Draft East African Standards for Public Review

 
The following Draft East African standards have been prepared in accordance with the EAC Principles and Procedures for harmonization of standards and are now being circulated for wider public comments.

The Committee would appreciate any comments on these Draft Standards, which should be submitted before 09th October, 2015 to the TC Secretariat (Uganda National Bureau of Standards) for the attention of Prossy Nabaggala, prossy.nabaggala@unbs.go.ug or pnabaggala@yahoo.com . Comments should be submitted using EAC Form D comment template.

It will also be appreciated if those who have no specific comments to make but find the draft East African standards generally acceptable can notify us accordingly.

Note 1: DEAS 355: 2014; Toilet paper - Specification (There is need to generate further consensus on clause 6.2-wrapping taking into consideration the concerns raised during the deliberation).

Note 2: DEAS 866: 2015; Multi-wall paper sacks for packaging of cement - Specification (However, Kenya and Tanzania shall provide information on the minimum acceptance criteria on physical requirements to be incorporated in the draft standard within one month).

Note 3: DEAS 868: 2015; Specification for sack Kraft paper Part 1. Natural and extensible sack Kraft paper (Some additional data on physical requirements on Natural sack Kraft was received during the meeting and members agreed to incorporate it in the draft. However the data is be subjected to further validation and results to be sent to the secretariat within one month)

Cosmetics and Cosmetic Products

The following draft East African standards for Cosmetics and Cosmetic products   have been prepared   by the EASC/TC/071 in accordance with the EAC Principles and Procedures for harmonization of standards and are now being circulated for   wider   public comments. Furthermore, in order to ensure the safety of ingredients used in the manufacture of cosmetics and provide guidance in the control of cosmetics and cosmetic products, the EASC/TC/071    recommended for    adoption, Annexes II to VI of the EU Regulation Ref No. 1223 /2009 on Cosmetic products.
