Final Draft East African Standards for Fortified Food Products

The following Final Draft East African Standards (FDEAS) were concluded by the EAC/TC on Nutrition and foods for special dietary uses in its meeting held from 31st October to 4th November 2011 in Kampala, Uganda.

These Final Draft East African Standards are being posted for purposes of raising awareness among the business community, regulators, concerned experts and stakeholders that the FDEASs are due for approval by the East African Standards Committee (EASC) in its 16th meeting which is expected to take place in early 2012 Arusha, Tanzania.

In accordance with the Procedures for Development of East African Standards, any interested party who has reservations with regard to particular provisions of any specific clauses of any FDEAS is hereby notified that they can bring this to the attention of their National Standards Body or the EAC Secretariat using the EAC Comments Template(doc). The draft standards can be downloaded free of charge.

Please note that the draft standards are subject to change and should not, therefore be cited in any legal transactions until they are formally declared and gazetted by the Council of Ministers.
